Dallas Product Photography Pricing

When it comes to selling a product, high-quality imagery is one of the most important investments you can make. Whether you're an established brand, a startup, or a creative agency, your product photos will either attract or repel potential customers. And in a saturated marketplace, strong visuals aren't optional—they're a requirement.

As a Dallas-based commercial photographer, I specialize in capturing clean, compelling, and story-driven product photography that performs across platforms—from eCommerce to social media, print, packaging, and advertising campaigns. This guide will help you understand what goes into pricing product photography, what you should expect when hiring a professional, and how we can work together to create imagery that brings your product to life.

Why Product Photography Pricing Isn’t One-Size-Fits-All

Unlike other forms of photography that may follow standardized packages (like portrait sessions or headshots), product photography pricing is highly dependent on the details of each project. Why? Because no two products, clients, or creative needs are alike.

Here are some of the biggest factors that influence pricing:

Number of Products: Photographing 3 items is a very different scope from capturing 50 SKUs for an eCommerce website.

Number of Final Images per Product: Some products need one clean hero shot; others require lifestyle photos, detail shots, alternate angles, and packaging photos.

Styling Requirements: Are you providing styled props and staging, or will I source creative props and backgrounds? Do we need a stylist on set?

Type of Photography: Do you need simple white background eCommerce shots, in-context lifestyle images, creative still lifes, or high-end composites for advertising?

Location: Will we be shooting in my Dallas studio, on-location at your facility, or somewhere else entirely?

Editing/Post-Production: Some products need light retouching; others may require extensive editing, color correction, or even compositing.

Usage and Licensing: How and where the images will be used—and for how long—directly affects pricing (more on that below).

These variables mean that flat rates rarely do justice to the project at hand. That’s why I prefer a collaborative quoting process—so we can build something that fits your goals, budget, and timeline.

Industry Standards and Ranges (for Reference Only)

While I do not list fixed prices on this page (because every project is unique), here are some general industry standards for context:

Per Image Pricing (for basic eCommerce shots): $50–$150 per final image, depending on complexity

Half Day or Full Day Rate: $1000–$3000, often used for larger volume shoots or highly customized setups

Lifestyle Product Photography: Usually quoted as a full creative project, often $1500–$5000+

Advertising Campaign Images: These often require licensing, larger crews, props, models, and detailed post-production, typically ranging $3000+

Again, these are just ballpark figures. The best way to understand cost is to reach out with your specific needs so I can prepare a tailored quote.

What’s Included in a Custom Quote?

Every project is quoted individually, but here are some of the line items I typically include in a product photography estimate:

Creative Consultation

Pre-Production Planning (Shot List, Mood Board, Style Guide)

Studio Rental or Location Scouting (if needed)

Lighting & Equipment Use

Photography Session

Post-Production (Retouching, Color Grading, Resizing)

Digital Delivery of Final Files

Licensing & Usage Rights

We'll talk through each of these elements so you're clear on exactly what you’re getting, what it costs, and why.

Let’s Talk About Licensing

One of the most misunderstood parts of product photography pricing is image licensing. If you’re hiring a photographer for commercial use (i.e., to sell or promote something), the image rights need to be clearly defined.

Licensing answers key questions:

Where will the photos be used? (Website, print ads, billboards, packaging, social media, etc.)

For how long? (6 months, 1 year, 3 years, or in perpetuity)

In what markets? (Local, regional, national, international)

If you’re a small business using images on your website and Instagram, your licensing will be much more affordable than a national brand using the photos for a major print campaign.

I follow industry-standard licensing practices using guidelines from organizations like Getty, BlinkBid, and APA. If you’re unsure what kind of license you need, I’m happy to walk you through the options and explain it in clear, non-jargon language.

Need a full buyout or want access to RAW files? We can discuss that too (see FAQ below).

What Makes Product Photography Successful?

It's not just about having a fancy camera. Successful product photography comes down to:

Lighting mastery that shows the product’s texture, color, and shape without distortion

Composition that directs the viewer’s attention and highlights key features

Consistency across your entire catalog or brand

Brand awareness so the image aligns with your company’s look, tone, and purpose

Speed and precision so your launch schedule stays on track

When done right, good product photography increases click-throughs, boosts sales, and builds credibility with your audience.

Sample Project Breakdown (No Pricing)

Let’s say you need 12 final images for a new line of luxury skincare products. You want:

White background eCommerce shots

A few styled lifestyle shots

A composite hero image for a landing page

Multiple aspect ratios for web banners and social

The quote might include:

Pre-shoot creative planning and mockups

Studio shoot with multiple lighting setups

Styled props and custom background

Post-production including high-end retouching

Delivery of high-resolution images + web-optimized versions

2-year national license for web, print, and social

This type of project might fall in the mid to high range depending on complexity, creative direction, and licensing.
